Our eyes are complex organs. There are many parts in our eyes that must work together to produce clear vision. Most people have one of the common eye and vision conditions at one time or another. Some of these common eye and vision conditions will go away on their own or are easy to treat at home.

Here are the common eye & vision conditions:

1. Eye Strain

Eye strain is the fatigue of the eyes. This is caused by reading for too long, driving long distances, or looking at a computer screen for hours. Eye strain typically happens when you overuse your eyes. Just like any other part of your body, your eyes get tired and need to rest.

2. Night Blindness

Night blindness is the inability to see at night or in poor light. For example, if you have a hard time seeing at night, especially when you’re driving or if it’s tough to find your way around in dark places. Some people are born with night blindness or it might develop from a degenerative diseases.

3. Red Eyes

Red eyes is a condition where the white of the eye has become reddened or bloodshot. There are many causes to red eyes which include eyestrain, allergies, and a lack of sleep. In addition, red eyes could also be a symptom of another eye condition such as pink eye.

4. Lazy Eye

Lazy eye or amblyopia is an early childhood condition in which a child’s eyesight does not develop properly. So vision is weaker in that eye and it tends to move lazily around while the other eye stays put. You can avoid lifelong vision problems if a lazy eye is detected and treated during early childhood.

5. Cross Eyes

Cross eyes or strabismus is a condition in which both eyes do not look at the same place at the same time. You’ll need to get an eye specialist or an ophthalmologist in order to correct cross eyes. They’ll be able to examine your eyes to see which treatment might work best for you.
